Auditions – Shakespeare in the Park 2014

Experssions of Interest for Shakespeare in the Park 2014 will be held on Wednesday, 21 August at 7:30pm at the Shoreside Clubrooms, 18 Richards Ave, Milford.

The Shakespeare in the Park season for 2014 will feature Richard II and Much Ado About Nothing.

We’re particularly interested in auditioning more men for character and comedy roles; or women willing to play male roles.

It Runs in the Family by Ray Cooney

It runs in the familyThe name Ray Cooney guarantees something delightfully wacky on stage and “It Runs in the Family” comes from the same mind as the other uproarious comedies “Run for Your Wife” and “Not Now Darling”.

The action rests on the efforts of Doctor Mortimer, an affected neurologist about to deliver a career-making speech to an international audience. His eyes are on a knighthood.

Calamity threatens when he learns that the result of a dalliance 18 years and nine months ago has turned up in the form of an apparently delinquent son. Trying to hold both his career and marriage together Mortimer weaves a web of lying cover-ups and outrageous acts of deception. They all blow up around him.

“if you’re going to tell a lie, tell a whopper” yells Doctor Mortimer as events spin deliriously out of control.

Directed for Shoreside Theatre by Rex Steele this wackiness takes place in The PumpHouse Theatre, Takapuna during the first two weeks of August. As Ray Cooney’s frantic tale creates an epidemic of near unbridled lunacy, laughter will indeed be the best medicine for you to survive it.
