About Us
Shoreside Theatre is a North Shore institution. You’ll be treated to sumptuous costumes, creative production design and passionate performances by a talented troop of local actors.
We endeavour to put on creative, fresh and exciting theatre with a community-based cast and crew.
Originally established in 1976 as Milford Playhouse Incorporated, our commitment to producing high quality community theatre has never faltered. Our aim is to bring audiences into the action, whether it be our season of Shakespeare in the Park, the annual Agatha Christie whodunit or our One Act Plays.
Shakespeare in the Park
William Shakespeare, The Bard of Avon, a man who needs no introduction. His stories have stood the test of time. But they were never written to be read – they were written to be experienced! And where better to see it than a traditional outdoor amphitheatre in the heart of Takapuna. Each summer we put on two Shakespeare productions in the traditional style.
Agatha Christie
Our beloved Agatha Christie murder mystery season is held mid-winter. Come in from the cold, cozy up and step back in time. Enjoy the talented actors, atmospheric design and impressive period costumes. See if you can figure out whodunnit before the show ends!
One Act Festival
Usually taking place in the September school holidays, our One Act Play Festival is an opportunity for newer directors to spread their wings while providing our community with a brilliant night out. You’ll be treated to a range of short plays in a variety of styles.
